Lima Eltham Interview

Liam ‘Lima’ Eltham is a British BMX rider, aged 24 he was born and lives in Oxford. He is sponsored by Relentless Energy Drink, DC shoes, Fox clothing, Verde, Duo, Cinema and Profile.  When he’s on the road he’ll be found pranking his fellow riders and friends, but when he’s competing, he gets back to business and shows us exactly what he can do with his creative and stylish riding style, he’s already a big name on the British circuit and if he gets his way he’s gonna make it big overseas too.

How has having sponsors changed your life?

Its pretty good, its helped me financially, so I don’t have to buy bike parts or shoes or clothing. Its also stopped me from working a 9-5 job which is sweet. Also get to travel a lot more and meet lots of people.

If you have a university degree, what subject is it? If you don’t what has been the ‘University of Life’s’ greatest lesson so far?

I never went to Uni, sometimes I wish I did, but in that time I travelled to a lot of places I probably wouldn’t of gone to. I would say its not saying no to any new opportunity which is offered to you. It might be weird at the time, but you can look back on it and remember the good times.

Do you enjoy your job? What are the best bits and what are the worst bits?

The best bits are all the places I get to travel to, and the amount of good friends I’ve made during these times. The worst is getting injured. It sucks every time.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be and why?

Unable to get hurt. You wouldn’t be scared of anything…

Sum up your outlook on life in 5 words or less…

Life is sweet, live it!

What are you most looking forward to during the remainder of 2011?

Going to France next week, its always really fun over there.

What are you most looking forward to in 2012?

Making it back out to America.

Do you have a party-trick? If so, what is it?

Not that i can think of!

What are you most proud of in your career so far?

Being supported by the companies I’m into personally.

What makes you sad?

Lots of things, depends..

What makes you happy?

When its sunny out!

What is your favourite smell?

That new car scent

Who do you most admire and why?

Bam Margera, he managed to make millions of dollars by filming what kids all over the world do. The guy isn’t the best skateboarder, but easily the most marketable.

Which is your favourite BMX trick?

Where is the best BMX track/park/ramp you’ve ever ridden?

Eastside trails in Austin Texas

What has been your single most memorable sports experience?

Qualifying for Empire of Dirt finals. I was pretty young at the time and there was a lot amazing riders there. So I was stoked to just make it into the finals.

What 1 thing would make your life better?

Money. It would make me and lot of my friends pretty happy.

Which is currently your favourite extreme sport apart from BMX?

Can you play any instruments?

I can probably play all of them. Well? no, gutted.

What do you feel your favourite sport gives to the world?

Probably alot of things, enjoyment, jobs, hassle, an escape, loads of things..

What’s the worst job you’ve ever had and why was it so bad?

When I was young I worked at co-op, but it wasn’t bad at all. There were loads of mates who worked there as well, so we just messed around all the time.

If a genie gave you 1 wish to use to improve your life, what would it be?

Lots of money, I can think of so many rad things to do, but would cost a fair bit.

If a genie gave you 1 wish to use to improve the BMX industry, what would it be?

I’m not sure, I think its probably the best its even been. I’ll save the wish till its needed. At the moment I think its fine-ish.
