End of Season high – Sub Zero Apres Ski

When you’re on top of the world, you’ve got farther to fall; a sentiment felt by thousands of winter sports enthusiasts every year, when the snow begins to slip from the mountains and the ski season reaches its annual lull.

Adam Speight’s idea of paradise is The Moon Park in Méribel: 25 Hectares of freestyle routes, from beginner green to black, where pro snowboarders slice through packed snow like a knife through butter.

Adam has been snowboarding for five seasons, but it’s a by-product of his real passion: music. Adam arrived in Méribel with a dream to become completely absorbed in the lifestyle of the mountains, playing his eclectic mix of acoustic and electronic music for a living. Since that first day in the mountains, Adam has been playing as HoboChic, spitting beats to loops and acoustic guitar alongside a wealth of talented guest artists.

HoboChic is a regular fixture in the bars and clubs of Méribel, entertaining the punters who ‘love to party every day of the week’. HoboChic play a variety of gigs, from intimate performances to big party nights. ‘And I love them for different reasons’, Adam admits, ‘its great fun having loads of drunk, dancy people in front of you when you play, but I guess I get more into my chilled gigs’.

With the ski season dying down, Adam has ventured back to his homeland to headline Sub Zero’s Apres Ski Party in London this Friday. This gig, far from the crisp, white mountains, is bringing the season that little bit closer to home. Instead of tables, rails and boxes, there’s a SONY board simulator, beer pong, and promo stalls. Sub Zero’s Apres Ski party is miles away from Meribel, but will have the mountain’s unique party atmosphere, thanks to the thousands of skiers and boarders it attracts.

For HoboChic, this party marks an important date on the snow sports calendar; a chance to catch up with people after the season, have ‘trolley loads’ of fun, drink and talk snowboarding. Sub Zero’s event follows hot on the heels of their last major party in Méribel Village, where they supported the legendary Dub Pistols. ‘It was a really fun gig’ said Adam, ‘there was an awesome atmosphere there all day; hopefully Sub Zero will be the same’.

Tickets for the party are still on sale for the event this Friday, but going fast. So, if you have a lust for the mountains you can’t quench this season, book your tickets and head on down to the Coronet in Elephant and Castle, where you will be guaranteed an Apres Ski party to remember.
